Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package (16 ounces) lasagna noodles
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, parsley, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Simmer the mixture for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions and drain them.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten eggs, ricotta cheese, and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Spread a small amount of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Layer 1/3 of the cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
- Spread 1/2 of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Top the ricotta cheese mixture with 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers with another 1/3 of the lasagna noodles, the remaining ricotta cheese mixture, and another 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Top with the remaining 1/3 of the lasagna noodles and the remaining meat sauce.
- Sprinkle the top of the lasagna with the remaining shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake the lasagna for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
