 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, ribeye or brisket, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
For the marinade:
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice wine or mirin
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 pear, grated
  • 1/2 onion, grated
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, mix together all the marinade ingredients until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Add the sliced beef and mix well. Cover and let it marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour or up to overnight.
  • In a large pan or wok, heat up 1 tbsp vegetable oil over high heat.
  • Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the beef is cooked through and slightly caramelized.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
You can enjoy Bulgogi with rice or wrap it in lettuce leaves along with some rice and other toppings for a delicious Korean-style lettuce wrap.
