Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- Chocolate frosting (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter or cooking spray and dust them with flour.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix everything together until evenly combined.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix everything together until just combined.
- Slowly pour in the boiling water and mix everything together until fully combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.
- Bake the cakes for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove them from the pans and let them cool completely on wire racks.
- Once the cakes have cooled, you can frost them with your favorite chocolate frosting or enjoy them plain.
- Serve and enjoy!
Note: You can also add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the batter if you like.
