Palak Paneer is a delicious vegetarian dish that is popular in North India. It consists of paneer (a type of Indian cheese) cooked in a creamy spinach-based sauce. Here is a recipe to make Palak Paneer at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 cup of paneer, cut into cubes
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 2-3 tablespoons of oil or ghee
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a pot of boiling water, blanch the spinach leaves for 2-3 minutes until they wilt. Drain the spinach and run it under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  2. In a blender or food processor, puree the spinach leaves until smooth. Set aside.
  3. In a large pan or wok, heat the oil or ghee over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and fry until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies, and fry for a few seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, and turmeric powder, and fry for another minute until the spices are fragrant.
  6. Add the pureed spinach to the pan and stir well. Let the mixture cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add the cubed paneer to the pan and stir gently. Let the mixture cook for another 2-3 minutes until the paneer is heated through.
  8. Add salt to taste and stir well.
  9. Remove the Palak Paneer from the heat and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
  10. Serve the Palak Paneer hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves if desired. Enjoy with rice or naan bread.
