Ingredients:
- 1 lb pork belly, sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey or corn syrup
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce leaves
- Ssamjang sauce (Korean dipping sauce, can be found in Asian grocery stores)
- Kimchi (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together soy sauce, honey or corn syrup, sesame oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper.
- Add the sliced pork belly to the marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
- Preheat a grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated pork belly slices on the grill or skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and slightly charred.
- While the pork is cooking, prepare lettuce leaves and thinly sliced onions for wrapping.
- Once the pork belly is cooked, place it on a plate and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Serve the cooked pork belly with lettuce leaves, sliced onions, ssamjang sauce and kimchi on the side.
- To eat, take a lettuce leaf, add a slice of pork belly, some sliced onions, a dollop of ssamjang sauce and kimchi, then wrap it up and enjoy!
